Do not sweat Amazon's barcode label requirements if you use Amazon Fulfillment. WePrintBarcodes.com prints millions of Amazon compliant barcode labels every year. We will make sure you are in compliance every step of the way!
Each unit you send to Amazon for fulfillment needs a unique scannable bar code to enable storage at a fulfillment center. If you have a barcode on a unit that is not unique (for example, if you have the same barcode for a product that comes in many colors or sizes) you would need to apply a unique UPC, EAN, or FNSKU label generated from your Seller Central account.
Watch this brief video for examples of how to label your products to ensure appropriate receipt and storage in Amazon fulfillment centers.

Amazon Fulfillment has strict guidelines on the barcode labeling process. Failure to comply can be costly to the seller.

IMPORTANT: Failure to comply with FBA product preparation requirements, safety requirements, and product restrictions may result in the refusal of inventory at the Amazon fulfillment center, disposal or return of inventory, blocking of future shipments to the fulfillment center, or charging for preparation or for noncompliance at the fulfillment center. An Unplanned Prep Service fee will be charged for units requiring labels that are received with Barcode labels missing. Visit Unplanned Prep Services for more information.
WePrintBarcodes.com prints millions of Amazon Fulfillment labels each year and you can count on us to keep you compliant. Every label we print is verified for accuracy and we actually grade each barcode we print. This is a much different process than just "reading" the barcode. You can read more about our verification guarantee here.
In addition to assuring compliance, if you choose to use Amazon's Labeling Service it's expensive. Amazon charges $.20 for each unit they label. That is $200.00 per thousand units.

All three of our labels for Amazon satisfy the Amazon specification. The most important consideration is if you are not using comingled inventory and need to cover up an existing UPC or EAN barcode you should make sure you select a size that will totally cover the existing barcode.
Another consideration is the size of the product the on which you will apply the label. Select a size that will allow the label to be positioned on a flat surface of your product. Do not bend the barcode around an edge or radius.

The FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) SKU (FNSKU) is an Amazon product identifier for products that are fulfilled by Amazon. The FNSKU identifies the product as yours. You need an FNSKU in order to create FBA Inbound Shipments. To get the FNSKU, set the product as Fulfilled by Amazon, and then launch it to Amazon. After a short period of time, Amazon will assign an FNSKU to the product. Click Get FNSKU on the Action Menu of the Amazon Properties page. You can also get the FNSKU for multiple products when creating an FBA Inbound Shipment. Select the products missing the FNSKU, and click Get FNSKU on the Action Menu.
