The Carrier Code is a four digit number or alphanumeric code that is obtained by applying to the CCRA (Canada Custom's & Revenue Agency). There is no cost for the code. The code is usually assigned within 48 hours of the receipt of application. The CCRA can be reached at (866) 749-6623.

The SCAC code is assigned by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, Inc. (703) 838-1810. There is a $40.00 (US) fee for the code that must be renewed annually. This process can take 7 to 10 days.
